F 1 Visa
The F-1 Visa is the most common type of visa for the academic studies in USA. F-1 Visa is the full-time student visa which allows students to join accredited college, university, seminary, academic high school, elementary school or any other academic institutions. Student must get enrolled to a program or course of study that leads to the achievement of a degree, diploma or certificate which must be authorized by the US government.
M-1 Visa
The M-1 visa is the visa that allows students to engage in non-academic or vocational study or training at US institution. M-1 visa students must be involved in the full course of study. The applicants must have a proof or evidence of the sufficient funds for paying all the tuition fees and for living costs.
Student visa Process Steps and Required Documents
Step 1: Apply for SEVIS
Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) is a web-based system that is used to maintain information on student and exchange visitor program-certified schools. The SEVP-approved school will issue the I-20 form and register in SEVIS. The I-20 Form should be presented at the time of the interview.
Step 2: Receive the I-20
I-20 is the government-approved document that certifies the student has been admitted to the full-time program of study. It also states that the student is financially prepared for further study in the USA. It is basically a certificate of eligibility to apply for an F-1 student visa at a US embassy or consulate abroad. The I-20 form is received from the SEVP-approved school.
Step 3: Filling out the form
Students interested in pursuing their studies in the USA for further study must complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Applicant (DS-160) form. The DS-160 form must be submitted online. After the form is submitted electronically to the Department of State website via the internet, an interview date will be assigned to each applicant.
Step 4: Pay the fees
After scheduling the visa interview, the applicant must pay a certain visa fee. The fee can be paid at NIMB Bank in cash. The fee payment process includes logging in to the online applicant system and creating a profile.
Step 5: Schedule an Appointment
After the payment of fees, on the same site, a schedule for an appointment must be made. Here, make sure to apply with the required documents, which are your passport number, Visa fee payment receipt, and the 10-digit bar code from the DS-160 confirmation page.
Step 6: Interview
The applicant must visit the US Embassy or Consulate on the date and time of the visa interview. Documents required at the time of interview: appointment letter, DS-160 confirmation code and page, photograph, passport, and the original visa application fee payment receipt.
